Privacy Policy
This Privacy Policy explains how Emergency Plumber Service collects, uses and protects your personal data when you phone us, send us a message, book a job or visit www.emergencyplumberservice.ie.
We follow the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and the Data Protection Acts 1988 to 2018. We also follow the European Communities (Electronic Communications Networks and Services) (Privacy and Electronic Communications) Regulations 2011. These are known as the ePrivacy Regulations.

Personal Data We Collect
We only collect what we need to answer your call and carry out the work:
- Contact details: your name, phone number and email address.
- Property details: the address and Eircode of the job, plus access notes such as parking or key arrangements.
- Job details: a description of the problem, photos or videos you send us, and the notes and photos we take during the visit.
- Billing details: invoices and payment records and, for businesses, the company name and VAT number.
- Messages: texts, WhatsApp messages and emails you exchange with us.
- Contact form: the details you enter in the form on our Contact page: your name, company name, email address, phone number, address, Eircode and message.
- Website data: technical data such as your IP address and browser type and, only if you accept statistics cookies, information about how you use our website.
When you pay by card, our card payment provider processes the payment. We never see or store your full card number.
How We Use Your Data and Why
The GDPR requires a legal basis for each use of personal data. Ours are:
- To reply to your enquiry, send you our rates and arrange a visit: steps you ask us to take before a contract (Article 6(1)(b)).
- To carry out the work, invoice you and take payment: performance of our contract with you (Article 6(1)(b)).
- To keep accounts, VAT and tax records: our legal obligations under Irish tax law (Article 6(1)(c)).
- To handle guarantee claims, complaints, insurance claims or disputes: our legitimate interests (Article 6(1)(f)).
- To keep our website secure and working properly: our legitimate interests (Article 6(1)(f)).
- To protect our contact form from spam with Cloudflare Turnstile: our legitimate interests (Article 6(1)(f)).
- To measure website visits with Google Analytics and show Google Maps: your consent (Article 6(1)(a)), which you can withdraw at any time.
We do not sell your personal data, and we do not make decisions about you by automated means alone.
Who We Share Your Data With
We share personal data only where it is needed, with:
- our accountant, for bookkeeping and tax returns;
- the Revenue Commissioners and other public bodies, where the law requires it;
- our insurer, a loss adjuster or your own insurer, if a claim arises or you ask us for a report;
- the landlord, letting agent or management company who booked the job on your behalf;
- our card payment provider, when you pay by card;
- the companies that host our website, email and backups, such as OVHcloud, whose servers for our website are in the EU;
- Cloudflare, whose Turnstile service loads on our pages and checks that messages sent through our contact form come from a real person rather than a spam robot. To do so, it processes your IP address and browser data;
- Google, for Analytics and Maps, only if you accept those cookies, and WhatsApp (Meta), if you choose to contact us that way.
These parties either act on our instructions under a contract or are independent controllers with their own privacy policies.
Transfers Outside the EEA
We keep our own records within the European Economic Area wherever possible. However, some providers, such as Google, Meta and Cloudflare, may process data in the United States.
Where that happens, the transfer is protected by the EU-US Data Privacy Framework or by Standard Contractual Clauses approved by the European Commission, as the GDPR requires.
How Long We Keep Your Data
- Enquiries that do not lead to a job: up to 12 months.
- Job records, photos, invoices and payment records: six years from the end of the year in which the job was completed, as Irish tax law requires. This also covers the period in which a guarantee claim or legal claim can arise.
- Website statistics: up to 14 months in Google Analytics.
- Server logs: a short period, kept by our hosting provider for security.
If a claim, dispute or Revenue enquiry is still open, we keep the related records until it is resolved. After that, we delete or anonymise your data.
Cookies and Website Statistics
When you first visit our website, a cookie banner lets you choose which cookies to allow. Necessary cookies keep the site working and do not need your consent.
Statistics cookies (Google Analytics) and marketing cookies (Google Maps) are only set if you accept them. You can change or withdraw your choice at any time through the cookie settings on our website.
For a full list of the cookies we use, see our Cookie Policy.
How We Protect Your Data
We keep personal data on password-protected devices and accounts, and only people who need it for the job can access it. Our website uses an encrypted HTTPS connection.
No system is completely secure. However, a personal data breach may one day put your rights at risk. If so, we will tell the Data Protection Commission within 72 hours. Where the law requires, we will also tell you.
We sometimes publish photos of finished work on our website. These never show your address or anything that identifies you. We only quote your first name or review with your permission, or where you have already published that review yourself.
Your Rights Under the GDPR
You have the right to:
- ask for a copy of the personal data we hold about you;
- have inaccurate data corrected;
- have your data deleted, where we have no legal reason to keep it;
- restrict how we use your data;
- object to our use of your data based on legitimate interests;
- receive your data in a portable format;
- withdraw your consent at any time, without affecting earlier use.
To use any of these rights, phone or email us. We will reply within one month, free of charge, and may first ask you to confirm your identity. Some rights have limits: for example, we must keep invoices for tax purposes even if you ask us to delete them.
Making a Complaint
If you are unhappy with how we have handled your personal data, please tell us first, and we will do our best to put it right.
You also have the right to complain to the Data Protection Commission, the Irish supervisory authority:
- Address: Data Protection Commission, 6 Pembroke Row, Dublin 2, D02 X963, Ireland
- Phone: (01) 765 0100 or 1800 437 737
- Website: www.dataprotection.ie
If you live in another EU country, you can also complain to the data protection authority there.

Our services are for adults. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children under 16 without the involvement of a parent or guardian.
Our website links to other websites, such as Google and Uisce Éireann. Those websites have their own privacy policies, and we are not responsible for how they use your data.
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The date at the top of this page always shows the latest version. If you have any question about your personal data, call us on 085 816 7910 or email info@emergencyplumberservice.ie.
