Emergency Plumber South Dublin

Water through the kitchen ceiling, a pipe that has split under the stairs or a toilet that won't stop filling: when that happens, you need an emergency plumber in South Dublin who picks up the phone and gets there. We're based locally and cover the whole south side, day and night.

Below, this page shows every area we cover, from Rathmines and Ranelagh to Dún Laoghaire, Tallaght and Lucan. It also covers Leixlip, Maynooth and Celbridge in Co. Kildare, plus how we handle calls from North Dublin.

Emergency plumber in South Dublin arriving at a house with a leak

Your Emergency Plumber in South Dublin

South Dublin is where most of our work happens. Because we work here every day, we know the roads, the housing and the typical faults in each district.

Our core area runs from the canal out to the mountains and the coast. It takes in Dublin 2, 4, 6, 6W, 8, 12, 14, 16, 18, 20, 22 and 24, together with Dún Laoghaire and the surrounding villages.

Staying close to home means shorter journeys, so we reach most south-side addresses faster than a plumber driving across the city. It also means we can often call back quickly if a part needs ordering.

Every call gets the same approach. First, we stop the water. Then we find the cause, explain it in plain words and fix it properly.

We carry common parts in the van, so many repairs are finished on the first visit. If a less common part is required, the leak gets stopped first and we come back once the part is in.

Of course, local knowledge helps too. For example, we know which estates have stopcocks in the front garden and which older terraces share a supply, so a visit from us starts faster.

Emergency Plumber for Dublin 6 and Dublin 6W

Dublin 6 and 6W are full of Victorian and Edwardian redbrick houses, many now divided into flats. Behind those front doors, it's common to find old copper and lead pipework, shared supplies and valves nobody has turned for decades.

These buildings bring their own emergencies. A leak in an upstairs flat often shows first in the ceiling below. Meanwhile, a seized stopcock can mean several units lose water at once.

Many of these houses also have a shared storage tank in the attic. So, when one flat has a leak, we sometimes need to reach the tank or the main valve for the whole building. A quick word with the landlord or the other tenants helps.

We work across the area every week. Choose your neighbourhood for more detail:

If your street isn't listed, just call and we'll confirm. In practice, almost every address between the canal and Terenure is within easy reach. Kimmage and Templeogue have their own pages too.

Dublin 2, Dublin 4 and the City Centre

Closer to town, the work changes. Here we deal mostly with apartments, Georgian buildings, offices, restaurants and pubs.

Apartment blocks often keep their stopcocks in locked service cupboards or plant rooms. Consequently, a quick call to the management company or caretaker can save a lot of time before we arrive.

In busy streets, parking and building access take planning as well. If there's a loading bay, a car park code or a side entrance, let us know when you call.

Businesses around Grafton Street, Baggot Street, Ballsbridge and Donnybrook can't wait for a leak to be dealt with next week. For that reason, we aim to keep disruption to a minimum and work around opening hours where we can.

Even in the city centre, our service keeps the same promise: our hourly rate confirmed first, then a quick, tidy repair.

  • Grafton Street, Merrion Square and the south city centre (Dublin 2)
  • Ballsbridge, Donnybrook and Sandymount (Dublin 4)
  • Portobello, beside the Grand Canal

Sandymount, Irishtown and Ringsend are covered too, and so are Temple Bar and Grand Canal Dock.

Emergency Plumber South Dublin: D14, D16 and D18

Further out, Dublin 14, 16 and 18 are mainly family homes from the 1950s to the 2000s, plus newer apartment schemes around Sandyford and Cherrywood.

In these houses, typical emergency calls include burst pipes in attics during a cold snap, and leaking valves under kitchen sinks. Toilets that won't stop running are common too, as are pumps that suddenly fail and leave a bathroom without pressure.

Churchtown, Dundrum, Clonskeagh, Rathfarnham, Ballinteer, Stillorgan, Foxrock and Cabinteely are all part of our regular round. Knocklyon, Ballyboden, Leopardstown, Carrickmines, Stepaside and Shankill are covered as well.

Winter is our busiest season here. Pipes in cold attics and garages can freeze and split, and the leak often only shows once the thaw begins. If you see water coming through a ceiling after a frosty night, turn off the stopcock straight away.

We're usually already working somewhere nearby, which keeps travel short. As a result, a call-out to these districts is often quicker than people expect.

  • Churchtown, Dundrum and Clonskeagh (Dublin 14)
  • Rathfarnham, Ballinteer and Knocklyon (Dublin 16)
  • Sandyford, Foxrock and Cabinteely (Dublin 18)

Dún Laoghaire Emergency Plumber on the South Dublin Coast

Along the coast, from Blackrock and Monkstown through Dún Laoghaire to Sandycove, Glasthule and Dalkey, the housing is a real mix. There are period terraces, seafront apartments, B&Bs and plenty of pubs, cafés and restaurants.

Salt air is hard on exposed fittings, so outside taps and pipework near the sea tend to corrode faster. In older houses, we also meet long pipe runs and mixed materials from several rounds of renovation.

For hospitality businesses in the area, a failed toilet or burst pipe during service is a serious problem. We understand that, so we work quickly and keep the mess contained.

In addition, many coastal homes have basement flats or bathrooms added below street level. Pumps there work hard, so we check them whenever we're on site.

Visit our Dún Laoghaire emergency plumber page for more about the coastal area.

Glenageary, Sallynoggin, Killiney and Ballybrack are also within our normal area.

West Dublin: D8, D10, D12, D20, D22 and D24

West of the city, we cover Kilmainham, Inchicore, the Liberties, Crumlin, Drimnagh and Walkinstown. Palmerstown, Chapelizod, Clondalkin, Tallaght and the areas around them are covered too, including Ballyfermot, Ballymount, Liffey Valley, Firhouse, Citywest, Saggart and Rathcoole.

Across this side of the city, the housing ranges from redbrick artisan cottages to large estates and busy apartment blocks. On top of that, there are business parks, warehouses and factories that need a plumber who can respond on the same day.

Our regular South Dublin routes pass through much of this area, so it's rarely a long trip.

Older council-built houses in Crumlin, Drimnagh and Ballyfermot often still have original pipework in places. When one joint fails, we check the nearby joints as well, so the next leak doesn't follow a week later.

For industrial units, please tell us about any site rules, sign-in procedures or permits before we travel. That way, we arrive ready to start work straight away.

Tallaght and Clondalkin sit right on the edge of our core area, so we can usually reach them quickly, especially outside rush hour.

Lucan and Adamstown

Lucan and Adamstown have grown quickly in recent years. The newer homes and apartment blocks there often use pressurised systems, booster pumps and compact plant cupboards.

When a booster pump fails, the whole home can lose water pressure at once. In apartments, the fault may sit in a shared plant room, so we may need the management company's help with access.

Older parts of Lucan village, on the other hand, have established houses with the usual leaks, dripping taps and worn toilet valves.

See our local pages for more:

If you're having trouble with water pressure, our pump repair page explains how we diagnose pump faults.

Esker, Griffeen and Finnstown fall within the same local area.

Likewise, Lucan landlords and management companies can book routine repairs here as well as emergency visits.

Leixlip, Maynooth and Celbridge, Co. Kildare

Although this page is about Dublin, we also work just over the county line. Leixlip, Maynooth and Celbridge are in Co. Kildare, and we cover all three for both emergencies and planned plumbing work.

These towns sit close to our western routes through Lucan, so travel is usually straightforward.

Maynooth has a large number of student lets and rental homes. Leixlip and Celbridge, on the other hand, combine older town-centre houses with big modern estates.

Landlords with properties in these towns can use us for regular repairs as well as urgent call-outs.

Between tenancies, for example, a quick check of taps, toilets and visible pipework can prevent a call-out later in the year.

Other parts of Co. Kildare are covered by arrangement. In Co. Wicklow, we cover the north of the county, and further south by arrangement.

Just like in Dublin, you get our hourly rate in writing before we travel, and the same payment options apply.

North Dublin and Dublin Airport: By Arrangement

North Dublin isn't part of our regular area. Even so, we work there by arrangement, including Dublin Airport, mostly in the evening and at night.

Whether we can come depends on the traffic. A journey that takes twenty minutes late at night can take over an hour at rush hour on the M50 or through the Port Tunnel.

For that reason, when you call from the north side, we'll check the traffic and tell you honestly whether we can reach you in reasonable time.

Travel time can also affect the price. A longer journey adds cost, and we tell you about it before we set off.

How Traffic Affects Arrival Times

Dublin traffic is unpredictable. The M50, the N81, the Stillorgan dual carriageway and the canal routes can all slow to a crawl during the morning and evening peaks.

We would rather give you a realistic arrival time than a hopeful one. So, when you call, we tell you where we are, how long the journey should take and whether anything might delay us.

If we are held up on the way, we'll ring or text you with an update. Late at night and early in the morning, the roads are much quieter, and most south-side addresses are a short drive away.

While you wait, you can keep damage to a minimum. The section below explains how.

In short, a call-out late at night is usually the fastest of all, because the roads are clear.

For night-time calls, see our 24/7 emergency plumber page.

Emergency Plumber South Dublin Services

As emergency plumbers, we handle the urgent plumbing faults that can't wait. The most common ones are:

We don't carry out gas or boiler work, because that needs a Registered Gas Installer.

On every emergency call, the first job is to make the property safe. After that, we either finish the repair on the spot or, if a part has to be sourced, come back as soon as it's in.

For the full list of what we do, visit our plumbing services page.

Prices and Payment

What you pay depends largely on the time of the call. Daytime visits during office hours are the least expensive; a call-out in the evening, overnight, at the weekend or on a bank holiday is charged at a higher rate.

Location matters too, especially for calls outside our core South Dublin area.

We confirm our hourly rate by WhatsApp, a text message or email, where possible before we travel. As soon as you confirm, we set off. There's no guesswork and no surprise on the bill.

Payment is simple:

  • Homeowners and landlords settle up by cash or card once the work is complete, or through a payment link.
  • Commercial customers can also pay by bank transfer.

We're fully insured, and we clean up the work area before we leave. On request, we can also provide a report for your insurer.

Planned work is best booked during office hours, when the out-of-hours rate isn't needed and the price is lower.

Emergency Plumber South Dublin for Homes and Businesses

Our customers range from homeowners to large sites. We regularly work for:

  • homeowners and tenants in houses, flats and apartments
  • landlords and property management companies
  • pubs, bars, restaurants and cafés
  • hotels and B&Bs
  • petrol stations and shops
  • offices, factories and warehouses

Commercial clients value a fast response and clear communication. Therefore, we confirm our hourly rate in writing, arrive when we say we will and tell you what we found.

For property managers, we can deal directly with tenants and send photos of the finished work.

Pubs, restaurants and B&Bs, in particular, can't afford to close a toilet or kitchen for long. We therefore prioritise getting the essential fixtures working again, then finish any remaining work at a quieter time.

If you manage several buildings across South Dublin, one plumber who knows each site saves time on every visit.

Industrial sites, meanwhile, often need site inductions or permits before work begins. Tell us the requirements in advance, and we'll plan the visit around them.

Before the Emergency Plumber Arrives

A few quick steps can limit the damage while you wait:

  • Turn off the water. Use the isolation valve on the pipe to the fitting, or the main stopcock, usually under the kitchen sink.
  • Keep away from electrics. If water is near sockets or lights, switch off at the fuse board, but only if you can reach it safely.
  • Protect your belongings. Move furniture, rugs and electronics away from the water.
  • Catch the drips. Put buckets or towels under the leak.
  • Warn your neighbours. In apartments, tell the flat below and the management company.

When you call, give us the Eircode and a short description of what you see. A photo or video sent by WhatsApp helps us bring the right parts.

Can't find the stopcock? Don't worry. Call us and we'll talk you through the usual places to look, such as under the sink, in the hot press, beside the front door or in a service cupboard in the hall.

For general advice on leaks, see the guidance from Uisce Éireann.
